History of Fiber Optic Physical Contact Connector for Low Insertion and High Return Losses

SC and MPO connectors using physical contact technology developed by NTT are in use as the de facto standard by carrier networks and data center networks throughout the world. In this paper, we review the SC and MPO connectors that laid the foundation for the fiber connection technologies that support today's optical communication systems.
