Group Mentoring: does it work?

1999
abstract Is mentoring only effective on a one‐to‐one basis? That was a question to be considered when a women's network group decided to set up a mentoring system that would provide the opportunity for several people to make a contribution but which may ultimately proceed to a one‐to‐one get together. Was it possible for several people to make a contribution according to their expertise? From a literature search it was revealed there was little in the way of information available about group mentoring. Was a group situation viable, or would the input from several sources be detrimental to the function of the mentor? How would mentees react to the group approach? Was the group situation effective? Did it outrun its usefulness? These were questions it was felt should be investigated. Research was carried for the women's network to determine the validity of their approach to mentoring.
