Acessibilidade e inclusão em bibliotecas : um estudo de caso

This study was designed with the aim of evaluating and identifying not only the physical and informational conditions, but also the accessibility resources provided to disabled people at the Edgar Sperb library at the Physical Education College from UFRGS. A checklist was based on accessibility norms, NBR 9050/2004 and NBR 15599/2008. The outcomes of that research indicate that the Edgar Sperb Library presents accessibility problems. The study concluded that the library is not prepared to provide accessibility for disabled or reduced mobility people. Indeed, there are very few accessibility resources available. However, the library staff, understands the different necessities of its users, knows the Legislation (statutory law), is opened to any change and is always seeking for solutions to improve its accessibility conditions, so that it can include everybody. No matter what their differences may be.
