The effectiveness analysis on implementing day surgery in 13 municipal hospitals in Shanghai

Day surgery is a brand new operation management model.In order to relieve the difficulty of hospitalization and long waiting time of operations,Shanghai Hospital Development Center initialized the pilot day surgery management modal in municipal hospitals in May,2006.Thirteen municipal hospitals that deployed the project completed 41005 day surgeries so far.All these data shows that the day surgery improves the service efficiency of the hospitals,decreases the average length of stay,reduces the medical costs and remarkably enhances the satisfaction of the patients.
