Progress of Cryogenic PSP Application in ETW

2017
A Pressure-Sensitive Paint (PSP) test campaign in the European Transonic Windtunnel (ETW) is reported. The two-gate lifetime-based PSP method is used to remove the problems caused by model deformation between the wind-on and the reference conditions. In the first part of this paper, PSP coating application, equipment, data acquisition system and data processing are summarized. The PSP tests were performed at test conditions in the temperature range from 115 -296 Kat M = 0.85 and at a total pressure up to 345 kPa. A maximum Reynolds number achieved in this test was 42.5 million. The obtained PSP results successfully visualize the complex pressure distribution on the model wing surface and the quantitative agreement with conventional pressure tap data is good.
