The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for process monitoring during the generative production of components by layerwise solidification of a building material by means of energy radiation. In the method, a radiation-sensitive sensor arrangement in each case before and / or after application of a new layer of the building material recorded data at least a portion of the processing surface used for the solidification of the building material. The recording of data is carried out with at least a line sensor as a radiation-sensitive sensor arrangement, which is moved over the working surface. The method enables the recording of image data with high resolution and a high measuring rate without being affected by the process and at no extra emission idle times.
