IN VITRO ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY AND THE EFFECT OF METHANOLIC EXTRACTS OF SOME LOCAL PLANTS ON NUTRITIONALLY STRESSED RATS.
2011
Summary In this study, the in vitro and in vivo antioxidant activities of the methanolic extracts from six locally consumed plants in Nigeria were comparatively evaluated. The study plants include V. amygdalina (bitter leaf); C. rubens (‘ebolo’); A. hybridus (‘tete’); J. tanjorensis (‘hospital too far’, jatropha); G. africana (‘okazi’ ) and T. triangulare (water leaf). Results from the in vitro study indicated that the DPPH radical scavenging activity was highest (p<0.05) in ebolo and water
