Stentys self-apposing stents in the treatment of in-stent restenosis - A friend or a foe?

2020
Abstract Coronary lesions with marked mismatch between the vessel diameters proximal and distal to the stenosis pose the challenge of determining the correct stent size. Under-sizing and under expansion/malposition can lead to restenosis and stent thrombosis, while oversizing can result in coronary dissection/perforation. Stentys self-apposing stents was introduced to address such challenging lesions. In addition, they've also shown promising results in bifurcation lesions, vein graft intervention and ectatic vessels. However, their use in the treatment of in-stent restenosis (ISR) is unknown.
