Clinical Observation of Integrative Medicine for 51 Cases of Bacterial Liver Abscess

2012
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of integrative medicine on bacterial liver abscess (B LA) .Methods Ninety seven BLA patients were randomized into the treatment group (5 1cases) and control group (4 6cases) .Anti-infections agents , as well as electrolytes ,v itamins, and nutritional support were given to both groups.Patients in the treatment group were added with Qinggan Xiaoyong Decoction ( decoction to clear the liver and disperse the welling-abscess ) or Shengmai Yin o- ral liquid , one dosage daily. One treatment course lasted for 7days.The white blood cell (W BC) count, platelet (P LT) count, hemoglobin (H b) , alanine aminotransferase (A LT) , aspartate aminotransferase (A ST) ,a lbumin( ALB) , total bilirubin (T BiL) and creatinine (C r) were detected. The therapeutic effect was observed after 4courses of treatment. Results The to- tal effective rate of the treatment group (1 00%) was superior to that of the control group (6 0.8%) ( P0.05 ) .The differences between groups were statistically significant in ALT , AST and Cr after 7days of treatment ( P0.05 ) .The differences between groups were statistically significant in WBC ,P LT, Hb, ALT and AST after both 14days and 28days of treatment ( P0.05 ) .Conclusion Integrative medicine is more effective for BLA than treatment of only western medicine.
