2009
The present work tries to offer a general overview of the morisco exile after the great expulsion of 1609-1614. It deals with the displacements of morisco groups, their places of settlement in North of Africa and Turkey, their ways of integration in the Maghrebi societies as well as the Moroccan and Ottoman policy to their respect. The Moriscos have a few common guidelines in their settlements in Maghrib, dictated by what the authorities arrange for them, as well as the activities to which they devote themselves. In the exile, the Moriscos will serve the Moroccan sultans and the Ottoman power as specializing workforce, as loyal soldiers and likewise as watchmen of the native population.
