Research on control strategy of virtual synchronous generator based on energy storage wind farm

As an important micro power source in microgrid, energy storage system plays an important role. When the microgrid operation mode is changed, the conventional control strategy must be switched to meet the control requirements, which cannot achieve seamless switching. In addition, the switching process is easy to cause system oscillation and even cause system disconnection in serious cases. Based on the factors above, this paper proposes a virtual synchronous machine control technology for energy storage system to realize the power balance of the regulation system, which can not only maintain the voltage stability of the power grid, but also realize the parallel expansion of multiple machines. In this paper, the wind farm is equivalent to a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) by configuring energy storage battery on the AC side of the wind farm. On the one hand, the power transmitted from the wind farm to the grid is smooth, on the other hand, the system frequency and voltage are stable, which improves the grid connection performance of large-scale wind farms effectively. Finally, the feasibility of the control strategy is verified by conducting simulation studies on a system composed of wind turbine, energy storage battery and steam turbine generator set.
