Kemampuan Siswa Kelas VIII dalam Menulis Teks Eksplanasi Ditinjau dari Keefektifan Kalimat di SMP Negeri 4 Salatiga

This study aims to describe the ability of grade VIII students in writing explanatory text in terms of the effectiveness of sentences at SMP Negeri 4 Salatiga. This type of research is a qualitative description, because this study aims to describe, explain, and describe the existing facts based on concepts, theories, and not based on numbers. The researcher observed and recorded the students' work when learning to produce explanatory text at SMP 4 Salatiga class VIII. This research uses a case study approach using a single fixed method. The single point of this research is that there is only one scope studied, namely class VIII A SMP Negeri 4 Salatiga, while fixed means that this research is planned on one main problem, namely the ability of students to write explanatory text in terms of the effectiveness of the sentence. The data in this study were students' work in the form of explanatory text essays. The data sources of this research were teachers and students of class VIII at SMP Negeri 4 Salatiga. In collecting data in the field, the writer uses data collection techniques in the form of documentation. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using the equivalent method with the type of orthographic matching method and the alternate method. The techniques used in this research are the dressing technique, the insert technique, and the lesion technique. The results of this study are as many as (10) ineffective sentence forms are located in the equivalence element, (7) ineffective sentence forms are located in the parallel element, (5) ineffective sentence forms are located in the assertiveness element, (17) ineffective sentence forms are located in the element of frugality, (3) the ineffective sentence form lies in the element of accuracy and (12) the ineffective sentence form lies in the element of cohesiveness.
