Extraction of scandium from the wastes of titanium-magnesium production with a solid extractant (SE-TBP)

1994
The mechanism of the extraction of scandium from hydrochloric acid solutions with a solid extractant (SE) based on TBP has been studied. The mechanism of this extraction has been determined by {sup 31}P and {sup 45}Sc NMR and compared to that of the liquid extraction. The influence of the polymeric styrene-divinylbenzene matrix of the SE on the composition and relative quantities of the hexacoordinated scandium chloroaquacomplexes in the organic phase has been studied. The technological scheme of the recovery of scandium from the chloride wastes of titanium-magnesium production by using SE-TBP is given.
