Instrument and method for measuring the dose rates in 60Co γ rays environment with a 2K×2K CMOS image sensor imaging system

2020
Abstract The Instrument and method for measuring the dose rates in  60Co γ rays environment with a 2K × 2K CMOS image sensor (CIS) imaging system are presented. The experiments were carried out at 60Co γ rays facility. The output signal increase, the frequency of effective spike were measured by the CIS imaging system under the γ rays environment at various dose rates. The dose rates were also measured by the PTW-UNIDOS. Besides, the relationship between mean output signal increase, frequency of effective spike, and dose rates are analyzed and used to measure the dose rates. The dose rates measured by our measurement system are in good agreement with the PTW-UNIDOS results. Usually, using the frequency of effective spikes to measure the dose rates would be more efficient but it is also more complex. The measuring ranges, the life span of the CIS imaging system are also discussed. This work can provide a great way to measure dose rates in  60Co γ rays environment.
