I costi della meningite pneumococcica in età pediatrica

Introduction Pneumococcal meningitis is an acute infection which particularly affects people in paediatric age. It may cause death or serious complications, with a remarkable economic impact. The present work is based on the follow-up of pneumococcal meningitis cases occurred in the early years of age. For each case, the observation period was protracted for some years following the first hospitalisation, in the view of estimating the associated costs. This is a Cost of Illness study, in a societal perspective.
