"- O meu marido ajuda-me muito, mas eu é que faço tudo."

This work leads us to the situation where women seem do have conquered less in terms of equality: family sphere (Poeschl & Serodio, 1998). Differences at this level tend to be maintained, although eventual changes could occur within the public sphere, namely the mass entrance of women in the work market. We depart from the conception of this issue based on gender social representation as a basic structure of influence in men and women's attributions in familial contexts, and from the explanation that this unbalanced division does not, in most cases, provoke injustice perception. The results reinforced the fact that women are still responsible for much more amount of work than men. The results suggest that the professional situation functions in differential manner as a regulator element of spouse participation in family practices. The unemployment situation implies, mostly, a greater participation of the man. Women's participation, always superior when compared to the men's participation, is relatively independent from the fact that they are employed or unemployed. Intertwined with this fact may be masculine and feminine gender roles.
