Methylene Blue-Related Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) In Human Colon Cancer Cells

2018
Cancer is a disease that has never been treated yet. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancer in the World. Despite advances in screening for early diagnosis, colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths. Drug is used in the early stage of cancer and patient follow-up is performed. Photochemical reactions begin by the accumulation of photosensitizers in the cancerous tissue when induced by light stimulation. As a result of these reactions, cancer cells become apoptosis. There are no side effects as in other cancer treatments. Photdynamic theray has the advantage of being able to select cancerous cell without harming other tissues. In this study, the effects of methylene blue on HT-29 colon cancer cells were investigated. At the end of the study, control group and treatment group were compared. The mortality rate was 80%.
