Proton conductive membranes / layers, and processes for their preparation

2001
The present invention relates to a silane resin composition, obtainable by at least partial hydrolytic condensation at least of the following components: (1) one or more sulfonic acid functional silane (s) with at least one group which can be split off under hydrolytic conditions, (2) one or more styryl-silane (s) and (3) one or more of a nitrogen-containing heterocycle, an amine function or a sulfonamide group-bearing silane (s) with at least one group which can be split off under hydrolytic conditions, and mixing of the components before, during or after the hydrolytic condensation, as well as a process for preparing this composition. With the obtained silane resin is proton-conductive, organically crosslinked heteropolysiloxanes can be produced which are suitable in layer or membrane form as a proton-conductive systems for PEMFC. Their proton conductivity can be further increased by adding suitable liquids.
