Atrophy of the left hepatic lobe caused by a cholangiocarcinoma

1985
Although obstructive jaundice is a common manifestation of cholangiocarcinoma, segmental bile duct obstruction is rare [1]. Recently, we encountered a patient with a soft-tissue mass in the common hepatic duct, asymmetric bile duct dilatation, and atrophy of the left hepatic lobe secondary to a slowly growing tumor. The computed tomographic (CT) appearance of lobar hepatic atrophy secondary to cholangiocarcinoma has not been reported previously to our knowledge.
