A process for preparing acid formates

It is proposed a process for preparing acid formates, after which - a liquid stream I comprising formic acid and - a liquid stream II comprising a metal formate, provides and the liquid stream I is mixed with the liquid stream II to give the corresponding acid formate, characterized in that one thereof the liquid stream I, or a precursor, the liquid stream II or a precursor thereof, or I the mixture of the liquid streams and II a liquid stream III comprising the following components with amounts of> 0.1 wt .-%: - metal formate, - Metallmethanolat, - methanol and - MeFo (MeFo) supplies, which is obtained as a homogeneous catalyst in a process for the preparation of MeFo by carbonylation of methanol in a reactor at a pressure up to 50 MPa abs in the presence of a Metallmethanolats.
