I. Varicare for a Protection of the Skin Around the Stoma

The new adherent for stoma-bag "Varicare" were applied in the 18 inpatients and 6 outpatients with entero-or colo- stoma.In 8 patients (33%) the excellent results was abtained and the good results in 16 pt.(67%). Especially, in the pataint who has been suffered from the dermatititis in spite of the usage of KARAYA-gum as skin protecter, this Varicare was very beneficial for them.When this skin protecter was used immediately after surgery, the skin trouble have not been recognized in all the cases.Further more, their long-durability and good adhesive power should be recommended even in the pediatric patients with colostoma.In the case of ileostoma, the peri-stomal dermatitis would healed promptly by Varicare using with continous section therapy.The buffer action of Varicare were studied in the solution of HCl or NaOH obtaining the similar buffer action with KARAYA gum.Considering these buffer action of Varicare this skin protecter seems to be preferable for the case of stoma.
