Appendix E: data tables on the nuclear balance

1983
The first 7 tables compare the US and USSR as follows: (1) long-range and medium-range strategic bombing forces; (2) ICBM missiles presently deployed and under development; (3) the submarine deterrent; (4) nuclear tipped SLBMs carried on submarines; (5) details of the strategic balance between the US and USSR; (6) strategic balance (summary of tables 1-4); and (7) the USSR/US strategic balance expressed in terms of the area each can destroy, the counterforce available, and the counterforce each would need for a 90% or 97% successful attack on the enemy's missile silos. The final table presents the balance of tactical nuclear delivery systems in Europe.
