SuperSmart grid for improving system stability at the example of a possible interconnection of ENTSO-E and IPS/UPS

The article is concerned with analysis of a possibility to use the potential of BtB converter stations to damp the low frequency oscillations to be appeared in some configurations of the prospective ENTSO-e-IPS/UPS super grid. Also the analysis of VPP utilization for the use in the system protection schemes of large scale power grids has been carried out. The fault ride-through performance of large WPPs with the use of series dynamic braking resistors has been examined. The special test power network model has been worked out to give the favourable conditions to the experts from the different countries to fulfil the team work in these areas. The simulation results allow seeing the directions of the further investigations with the use of a more detailed model of this interconnection.
