REGULACIóN EMOCIONAL Y REDES DE APOYO SOCIAL EN LA VEJEZ, EL ROL DE LA SELECTIVIDAD

El presente trabajo analiza algunos de los resultados obtenidos en una investigacion llevada a cabo en 2013 - 2014 en la Facultad de Psicologia de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. La misma estaba destinada a explorar las relaciones entre caracteristicas de la red de apoyo social y la regulacion emocional. La red de apoyo social es el conjunto de relaciones familiares y no familiares que brindan ayuda. El apoyo social es un tema relevante en investigacion y en la intervencion con adultos mayores. La regulacion emocional es un esfuerzo voluntario por modificar las reacciones o estados emocionales.. Algunos autores han aportado evidencia acerca de que en la vejez se alcanzan grados de competencia superiores de esta funcion. El analisis de los resultados indica que no existe relacion entre las puntuaciones de Control cognitivo, Madurez emocional y Moderacion del afecto positivo y las relaciones extremadamente intimas de la Red de apoyo social. Sin embargo y mas alla de nuestra hipotesis que preveia una correlacion positiva de las variables, los resultados son coherentes con la teoria de la Selectividad Socio - emocional. THE ROLE OF SELECTIVITY The aim of this paper is to explore the relation between social support network characteristics and emotion regulation. In a research of the Mar del Plata University in 2013 - 2014. The social support network is a set of family and not family relationships to provide assistance. The social support network is an important issue to work and research with elderly people. The emotion regulation is a volunteer effort to modify the reactions or emotional states. By some authors exists evidence that in old age attain succeed in achieving for this function. The analysis of the outcomes indicates that there is no relationship between the scores of cognitive control, emotional maturity and moderation of positive affect and extremely intimate relations of social support network. However the outcomes are consistent with the theory of Socio emotional Selectivity. Key words Social support network, Emotion regulation, Elderly, Selectivity
