Indicadores de paleosismicidad derivados de espeleotemas fracturadas en cavernas del campo gasopetrolífero de Boca de Jaruco, Mayabeque, Cuba.

2020
The gas-oil field of Boca de Jaruco is register in a territory of medium seismicity to low. This oilfield has an oil intense activity so it requires an adequate seismic prevention system that ensures stability and protection of the population is based in the region and shore facilities. In addition, the area counts with about 19 caves where there is a large number of stalactites and stalagmites fractured, displaced and collapsed that provide significant record that can help to support the prehistoric records of earthquakes. The overall objective of the work is to validate paleoseismicity indicators derived from broken speleothems to identify paleoseismic events. Local and regional geologist-geophysics information and derived information from measurements of structural data are used for these purposes. The acquisition techniques structural data improvements were implemented, thus contributing to improve the methodology for identifying paleoseismic evidence and used for processing such data diverse characterization methods of paleoseismic, the geophysical methods were also used which was one of the contributions of this investigation. This presentation helped to increase knowledge of the area, to make an estimate of the period of recurrence by indirect methods, and manage the risks in the region.
