The present invention relates to a resolution of the racemate of amlodipine (S) - (-) - amlodipine (R) - (+) - amlodipine chemical methods, the resolving agent is D- or L-tartaric acid the solvent is methyl ethyl sulfoxide or methylethyl sulfoxide containing solvent mixture, and the present invention shorten the reaction time, but also no special requirements for water content of the solvent, the present invention is thus well suited for mass production.
