Radiation Doses to Sensitive Organs from Intraoral Dental Radiography
1987
Doses to organs sensitive to the stochastic effects of radiation have been generated by computer simulation of dental diagnostic radiological procedures using Monte Carlo techniques. The long-cone paralleling, with and without rectangular collimation, and short-cone bisecting-angle techniques have been simulated for beam energies of 70, 80 and 90 kVp using the anatomy of a female patient. Organ doses are presented for individual projections normalized to an exposure of 1 R (2.58 × 10 4C/kg 1) free-in-air at skin entry.
