Nonlinear Variable Struccture Control Technique for Power Systems

This paper studies the nonlinear variable structure (VSC) technique for desining power control systems which include a excitation controller and a fast valve controller. A new method is applied to find non-linear switching surface in derive the control strategy. The simulation results of responses to various large perturbations show that the nonlinear VSC technique can considerably improve the transient stabilization lim-itation of power systems.
