Measurements of the field of captured gamma quanta from an organic scintillator when it is irradiated by fast neutrons

Results are presented of the measurements and calculation of the yield of captured ..gamma.. quanta for irradiation of an organic scintillator with fast neutrons. The measurements were carried out by the time-of-flight method using a /sup 252/Cf neutron source. The experiment is compared with the computations performed by the Monte Carlo method. The yield of captured ..gamma.. quanta for a crystal having a diameter of 60 mm and a height of 60 mm does not exceed 2 x 10/sup -3/ per incident neutron in a time interval of up to 100 ..mu..sec.
