Measurement of Time-Resolution Parameters of a Silicon Photomultiplier

A method for measuring the intrinsic time resolution of a silicon photomultiplier determined by responses with a single fired pixel and for estimating the noise parameter affecting the time-resolution measurement is proposed. The measurement relies on the high single-photoelectron resolution of this photodetector whereby the amplitudes arising from single and multiple fired pixels can be discriminated.
