Theoretical analysis of microwave attenuation constant of weakly ionized dusty plasma

2007
The complex conductivity and attenuation constant are deduced for the weakly ionized dusty plasma by solving the Boltzmann and Shukla equations given by statistical theory. And the concept of response factor of charging is proposed. Our theoretical result is applied to calculate the microwave attenuation constant of a solid rocket plume which is taken to be a weakly ionized dusty plasma. It is shown that the attenuation constant is affected by the densities of both electrons and dust grains as well as the radius of grains, in a general agreement with the phenomenon observed in laboratory.
