Wide Polarity Range Flash Purifications

2013
Natural sources contain a large number of compounds that range from very non-polar materials, such as terpenes, to highly polar compounds such as tannins. This melange also contains only a few compounds active in a particular assay. Wide Polarity Range Chromatography is a method to resolve these complex mixtures into various groups of molecules that are easier to purify in subsequent steps without making assumptions about the type of compounds conferring the biological activity. Columns suitable for use with Wide Polarity Range Chromatography include RediSep Gold® C18, diol, and silica and the RediSep® alumina columns. These columns are stable in solvents ranging from hexane through water. Wide Polarity Range Chromatography also takes advantage of the programmable solvent switching on the CombiFlash® Rf 200 flash chromatography systems.
