Activity of hydrolases in the gastrointestinal tract of goats

1990
Abstract In the goat rumen, omasum, abomasum, duodenum, jenunum, caecum and colon, activities of the following hydrolases were measured: amylase, cellulase, xylanase, pectinase, invertase, urease and proteinase. Total activities of these enzymes showed that the rumen is the most important site of feed digestion. More than 80% of total hydrolytic activity was found there, including 88% of amylolytic, 95% of cellulolytic, 92% of pectinolytic, 92% of xylanolytic activity, 90% of invertase and 70% of urease.
