Status of CO2 conversion using microwave plasma

2018
Abstract As a potential technology, the plasma-based conversion of CO 2 comes under the spotlight. The microwave plasma stands out, owing to the high-degree of non-equilibrium that is desired by the vibrational excitation of CO2. This paper is an overview of recent studies to illustrate the state of CO 2 conversion in microwave plasma. In this paper, interactions between the CO 2 dissociation and operating conditions, such as input power, pressure, temperature, and gas flow, were comprehensively discussed based on a deep understanding of the reaction mechanism. The conversion of CO 2 and co-reactants, which makes a difference to the CO 2 conversion and production of high value-added compounds, was analyzed and followed with the implementation of catalysts. To sum up, we discussed the prospects and remaining challenges for the further development of CO 2 conversion in microwave plasma.
