A method for bilingual teaching of biochemistry leading to an all-round improvement in the students' comprehensive quality

Biochemistry is a frontier subject in the field of biological science.It is also the main course for the medical and biological students.In view of the rapid development in biochemical theory and technology,the students should be required to keep abreast with the most advanced biochemical knowledge.For such purpose,we have established a group of highly qualified teachers,selected a set of latest English edition textbook,and launched a program of biochemistry bilingual teaching in the students majoring in clinical medicine and biological science.We have also carried out extra-curricular activities,in which students are required to write thesis in English and take the role of teachers by giving lectures on what they have learned through presenting multimedia course wares made by their own.The students are also required to take a final examination of biochemistry in English after they finish the course.With these done,an adaptable and content-rich method of Chinese-English bilingual teaching of biochemistry has been settled,by which the students' comprehensive quality,including professional English levels,academic competence and power of conveying their ideas,can be raised in an all-round way.
