The present invention relates to a quetiapine granules consisting of quetiapine or a salt thereof, a copolymer of methacrylic acid and a sugar alcohol, wherein the weight ratio of quetiapine or a salt thereof and the copolymer of methacrylic acid esters of from 3: 1 to 12: 1, preferably from 5 : 1 to 10: 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for preparing the granules according to the invention, and tablets containing these granules, and to their use for the treatment of schizophrenia, or anxiety. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a functional coating for the coating of tablets of this invention.
