Effect of oxide inclusions on high-temperature plasticity of nickel
1979
1.
The high-temperature plasticity of nickel containing as much as 0.2% evenly distributed inclusions of silicon dioxide and corundum does not decrease in torsion tests but decreases when the inclusions are clustered in the form of stringers.
2.
In high-temperature tensile tests the plasticity of nickel containing as much as 0.5% silicon dioxide and corundum and diopside stringers does not decrease. The relative elongation and reduction in section decrease with ≥0.2% corundum.
3.
The preferred mechanism of failure in the presence of such inclusions is the formation of cracks and pores at the metal-inclusion interface. The inclusions create local dislocation pile-ups and retard the recrystallization process.
