Optimal Design of Electricity Plans for Active Demand Response of Power Demand Side

2019
Power demand response is an effective method to deal with the problems of continuous increasing of the peakvalley difference, grid connection of the large-scale intermittent renewable energy, and the transition of energy structure. Under the background, a novel type of DR program referred to as the electricity plans is proposed, and the design of electricity plans is optimized. The electricity plans are established by the power companies and targeted at motivating changes in electrical use by customers. A utility function of customers is developed, taking account of the customers’ satisfaction with the electricity bills and energy consumption patterns. Accordingly, a decision-making model for customers to choose among electricity plans is proposed based on the multinomial logic model. Then, the energy consumption behavior of customers in response to the selected electricity plan is analyzed and compared with the original consumption patterns. On this basis, the optimization model for the design of the electricity plans is proposed to minimize the peak-valley difference of the power system. Simulation results show that the optimized electricity plans have significant benefits in improving the load curve and inducing the demand side to participate in load management actively.
