Investigating Understudied Moderators in Meta-Analysis

2013
When conducting a meta-analysis, researchers often take the “code-for-everything” approach. This approach, though all- inclusive, results in several unutilized cross-study variables that could greatly affect the strength, direction, and magnitude of hypothesized relationships. Even when these variables are utilized, they are seldom accompanied by theoretical justification. The goal of this symposium is to spark a discussion on several understudied moderators in meta-analysis. Presentations will range from the detection of certain moderators, when to include moderators, and the operationalization of these moderators.
