Raman study of metallic ReO{sub 3} under pressure

We report Raman scattering studies of single crystals of ReO{sub 3} as a function of pressure. Various phase transitions, earlier observed by X-ray and neutron scattering studies, are seen in Raman experiments. Density functional calculations were done for the phonon dispersion curves which helped us to assign the second order Raman modes observed in the Raman spectrum under ambient condition. (author)
