E-mail: martafas@ufrrj.br Cats have peculiarities in their healing process which tend to retard wound healing and also are the animals most frequently affected by pseudohealing, which is a form of faulty skin healing. We report the use of omentalization as adjuvant in the healing of chronic wound of a domestic feline, after several attempts of unsuccessful conservative treatment. After celiotomy omentum was detached from its dorsal connections and exteriorized through a small caudal incision for production of the flap. A tunnel was created in the subcutaneous tissue, whereby the flap was transported to the wound. The omentum was sutured to the wound edges, covering the entire area. After 15 days of surgery the wound had healed, the stitches were removed and the patient had a good clinical outcome in a five-month observation period.
