Comparison of Content of Polysaccharides in Different Vegetative Organs of Platycodon Grandif

2012
Objective To compare the contents of polysaccharides in different vegetative organs of Platycodon grandiflorum. Methods The contents of polysaccharide, expressed as glucose equivalents, were measured by using the phenol-concentrated sulfuric acid chromatometry. Results The good linearity between concentrations and absorbance of glucose was found within the range of 3.60 to 14.40 μg/ml,the average recovery was 97.63% and relative standard deviation was 0.59%,the contents of polysaccharide in roots, fibrous roots, stems, and leaves of Platycodon grandiflorum were 11.41%,9.24%,2.35%,and 2.21%,respectively.Conclusion The contents of polysaccharides in fibrous roots of Platycodon grandiflorum are higher than those in stems and leaves.
