How alkali vapor affects superstructure refractories

This article shares the results and conclusions of numerous tests that studied the effect of alkali vapor on superstructure refractories. The primary testing method was Corning's gas-oxy laboratory furncae (G/OLF). Therefore, the furnace and its operation will be briefly described. The other testing methods used to augment the gas-oxy lab furnace was Corning's SAG test (hot creep) and a modified exudation test.
