Evaluation Method of Noise and Vibration used in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in Electric Vehicle

This paper discussed an evaluation method on motor vibration and noise. Electromagnetic vibration and noise are influenced by stator stiffness matrix and frequency of electromagnetic force. The stiffness of the stator reflects the ability of the motor to block the vibration. The radial electromagnetic force vibration is the primary cause of vibration and noise in permanent magnetic synchronous machine (PMSM). Therefore, increasing the stator stiffness and reducing the radial electromagnetic force is the key to reducing the vibration and noise. According to the harmonic response analysis of the stator, this paper evaluated firstly the stator stiffness. Then developed the radial force wave in time domain and in frequency domain through analytical method and finite element simulation. By analysis of the vibration effect of specific frequency, we filtrated the main frequencies. By reducing these specific waves, the optimization of motor structure can be done more properly. Finally, vibration and noise simulation and analysis of a specific 48 slots 8 poles PMSM model are given.
