ANN Based Novel Inverted L Shape Slotted Patch Antenna For Wide Band Applications

A novel double inverted L shape slotted inset feed patch antenna is proposed in this paper for wideband applications. The epoxy FR4 material having dielectric constant of 4.4 and thickness of 1.524 mm has been used as a substrate. The designed patch antenna has a compact size of (15 × 20 × 1.524) mm3 including the ground surface. The operating bandwidth of designed antenna is 9.67 GHz ranging from 18.70 GHz to 28.37 GHz which covers the 5G frequency band as well. The proposed antenna is having gain of 2.48 dBi and 7.32 dBi at frequencies 21.78 GHz and 24.24 GHz respectively. In this paper an Artificial Neural Network Toolbox of MATLAB software has been used for the calculation of bandwidth of proposed antenna. For that, input and training data set is generated using HFSS software and then ANN Toolbox directly provides the bandwidth of designed antenna without analyzing it through HFSS.
