A fast flashlamp with high light intensity

1974
A simple flashlamp that produces light pulses of about 15 ns decay time and 1011 photons per flash has been developed. It can work at frequencies up to 5 kHz. By using different gases in the spark chamber a wide range of wavelengths is obtained. It is stable for several hours and is very suitable for use with signal averaging techniques.
