Non-human primate models in allo-transplantation research: A short review

2008
The ultimate goal in organ transplantation is to reach a state of tolerance to the graft so that immunosuppression is no longer needed. Rodent models have been poor predictors for translating new approaches to the clinic. Non-human primates (NHP) are considered an essential step between rodent and application in humans. This review describes the models available and when to use them.
