First record of Ostracod ingestion by adult frogs

2020
The marsupial frog Fritziana goeldii is an endemic species of Brazil whose there is no aspects of the adult diet reported in the literature. In this work, we report the first observation on its diet, the predation of Elpidium sp., an ostracod that lives in bromeliads and is known to use amphibians as vectors for phoresy. It is also the first time that this group is reported as a prey of an adult amphibian.
