The perception of carer of elderly about the care El cuidador de la percepción sobre el cuid ado de ancianos

Longevity is considered a great advance due to social and technological aspects. Aging carries more consequences than only the age; consequences like physiological, systematical and pathological alterations, inducing for a need of assistance and cares. So, it makes necessary the presence of caregivers for a better follow-up of the people. This survey aimed to describe and to analyze caregiver’s perception about elder’s care. It’s a descriptive study, also based on a qualitative approach. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews in which 12 elder’s caregivers of two Family’s Health Team (ESF) of the city of Teresina, in the State of Piaui, Brazil have participated. After, they were analyzed through content analysis e three categories were raised: elder’s care with affectivity, cares about elder’s health and cares as an experience, permeated through psychological and emotional difficulties. The results showed that caregivers takes care the elders with humankind, even they face difficulties. Then, it becomes necessary the activation of Public Politics to caregivers and it is proposed the elaboration project to train the workers of Family’s Health Strategy related to elder’s care. It is also necessary the implementation of alternative modalities like: community center, outpatient rehabilitation to give assistance to elders. Descriptors: Aging. Elder. Care. Nursing. RESUMEN
