PERLINDUNGAN HUKUM TERHADAP KONSUMEN PENGGUNA PRODUK KOSMETIK PEMUTIH WAJAH Dl KOTA BANJARMASIN

The outcomes of the research point out that: Firstly, the characteristic of the respondent using pacial whitening in the city orf Banjarmasin is very heterogenous in education, occupation, age, and income. However, there is a tendency that there are distinction in focus of attention, standard, and the way to use the said cosmetic product for facial whitening. In addition, the respondents who have experienced side effect of the product tend to overcome the product. Secondly, legal protection to the consumers of facial whitening products by the existing legislation is already sufficient. From the aspect of supervision, the circulation of the facial whitening products by BBPOM(Supervisory Board for Medicine and Food) Banjarmasin is not sufficiently effective because the number of the officials to perform the supervision is insufficient. And the consumers in the city of Banjarmasin do not have enough awareness and knowledge on cosmetic products which meet the requirements as well as the way to use the cosmetic products in accordance with the direction in order not to harm the users. The consumers do not know either how to claim the businessmen in the event the consumers using the consumers using the cosmetic products for facial whitening suffering from harm such as irritation, reddening or blackening and swelling of face as a consequence of the use of the said cosmetic products.
